Michelle de Silva
Michelle Da Silva born in South Africa yet of Portuguese decent from the gorgeous island of Madeira.
Bought up in a typical Portuguese family, where eating is of equal importance to breathing, this grew a great interest in the culinary world from a young age.
Michelle joined the International Hotel School where she completed her 3 year programme in Professional cookery and kitchen management, while training at Emperors Palace in the 5 star hotels, food and beverage department as well as casino.
After a year training she then joined Letabo Lodge, a 4 star bush lodge with a change of scene she help run the kitchen for weddings and functions.
She then joined Tiger brands Out of Home Solutions where she continued after graduation as a product developer working with Moira Allison NPD manager and the Advisory chef. She also assisted in the redevelopment of a Spar bakery and HMR which lead to her great interest in all things sweet and now makes birthday and wedding cakes part time.
Michelle has now joined MLK Food and Beverage Consulting and works hand in hand with SACA honoury past President Martin Kobald as his assistant.
The company focuses on recipe development, product development as well as editorials for the magazine Avocado.
