General Information
The Academy
SA CHEF TRAINING & INNOVATION ACADEMY is located in Centurion Mall, Centurion also known as Verwoerdburg Stad. SA CHEF TRAINING & INNOVATION ACADEMY is fully-equipped with training facilities such as two practicum (specialized field of study) kitchens, two large lecture rooms, cold patisserie kitchen, administration offices and a learner relaxation area which includes a library. The Academy is also ideally situated close to public transport and within walking distance of the Centurion Gautrain station.
Programme commencement dates
Program in takes are in the first week of February and the second week of July of each year.
Accommodation
SA CHEF TRAINING & INNOVATION ACADEMYdoes not offer this facility, but will be able to assist learners in finding nearby accommodation for the time duration of their chosen program. Please approach the Training Support Section with regards to accommodation requirements.
Dress Code
We believe that our learners are ambassadors of the Academy and play an important role in furthering the standard and reputation of SA CHEF TRAINING & INNOVATION ACADEMY. In order to make professional appearance a part of their everyday habits, learners are required to wear their chefs uniform during lectures, practical training and industry related activities and placement.
First Aid & Fire Training
All learners will receive basic first aid and fire training by an accredited provider and trainer.
Lecture Times
Full time Learners will be required to attend classes Monday to Friday from 09h00 to 16h00, or as otherwise indicated by their daily training delivery program.
Part time Learners will be required to attend classes once per week from 18h00 to 22h00, and/or as otherwise indicated by the training delivery program.
All learners will receive a time-table and year planner as per program outlay.
Assessments / Examinations
Assessments will be conducted throughout the entire duration of the program. City & Guilds exams (finals), will be written either in June or November as as prescribed by City & Guilds. In order to be eligible to be registered for the City & Guilds exams, learners are expected to adhere to a minimum of 90% attendance, a 60% pass mark on all tests and assignments and 75% pass on all practical assessments.
Graduation
Learners will attend a formal graduation ceremony at the Academy after the full completion of their chosen program. Ceremonies are held in the month of March and November each year.
